A dream become a nightmare

I met yesterday an old English lady who told me her last 3 years’ story.

When she retired she came to Andalucía to make true her dream to live there. She found a house with garden and bought it.

She began a relationship with a younger Spanish man of the village she moved to and everything seemed almost perfect.

But at some point he began to abused her, so she broke up. He didn’t want to leave her and began to harass her in all imaginable ways.

Though she finally went to the police and late into court, it seems and endless matter, as he lives in front of her and neighbors support him and his family.

Now this old lady, who doesn’t want to disturb her family in England with her problems (they are not aware of all this), needs to sell her property in a difficult moment to sell, can’t neither afford a lawer nor move to a rent place far away.

Her account left me very sad and conerned about the defencelessness despite of the laws.

She is a very strong woman and I’m sure she will pass over all this, but at what price?
